DATA TRANSFER NOTICE
Data Protection Act 1998 - Fair Processing Notice - Transfer of the Concessionary Fares Function from Babergh District Council, Forest Heath District Council, Ipswich Borough Council, Mid-Suffolk District Council, St. Edmundsbury District Council, Suffolk Coastal District Council and Waveney District Council to Suffolk County Council
TAKE NOTICE THAT in accordance with the requirement of the Concessionary Bus Travel Act 2007 (Variation of Reimbursement and Other Administrative Arrangements) Order 2010, and from 1 April 2011, Suffolk County Council will be taking over the function of administering Concessionary Fares from Babergh District Council, Forest Heath District Council, Ipswich Borough Council, Mid-Suffolk District Council, St. Edmundsbury Borough Council, Suffolk Coastal District Council and Waveney District Council. The personal information held by both authorities in connection with all Concessionary Fares will be transferred in a secure manner to Suffolk County Council in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
Concessionary Fare personal information e.g. name, address, age, proof of identity, photograph etc is required to be collected in order to validate eligibility for the scheme and to produce Concessionary Fare passes. The personal data maintained in order to provide Concessionary Fares will be held by Suffolk County Council who will be known as the Data Controller. The personal data is also processed by a third party working on behalf of Suffolk County Council; this company produces the Concessionary Fare passes and the contract arrangements strictly adhere to the Data Protection Act. Personal information is retained securely for a set period of time for the purpose of administering Concessionary Fares only; the only exception to this is the potential sharing of personal data to assist with the prevention and detection of fraud.
The data will be processed in accordance with Data Protection Act legislation, for legitimate Council purposes only.
All pass holders will receive a letter of notification about these changes, and for further information, please see your District or Borough website or contact their Customer Service department.
