What is I4U?
I4U is a Real Time Passenger Information (RTPI) system.
Bus arrival times are displayed on screens at the bus station, and at bus stops across Lowestoft.
How does it work?
GPS tracks the bus and sends a signal to the bus stop via a Central Control System.
The screen then counts down until the bus arrives.
The screens are updated every 30 seconds, so information is always up to date. The information is also supplied to mobile phones via SMS.
How do I use I4U?
Information will be displayed at bus stops on screen as illustrated below.
Real time or scheduled time?
When the screen shows for example “10 Min”, this is real time and will count down until the bus arrives.
If the time shown is in 24hr clock mode, for example 10:08, this is an electronic version of the printed timetable and shows the scheduled departure time of the bus.
Bus Times by Text
If there is no screen at your bus stop, you may be able to access the real time information via your mobile phone. Simply text the bus stop code (usually found at the top of the timetable case, next to the stop name or on the bus stop flag) to 84268, and you will then be sent a message in return showing the times for the next buses arriving at that stop.
Find the code for your bus stop on the Traveline website (external).
Normal text sending rates apply, plus a charge of 25p for the return message.
