Suffolk’s School Travel Policy has been amended, so it is important that you understand how this might affect your child’s eligibility for funded school travel from September 2019. All parents now have to opt-in, even if their child is already using Suffolk County Council (SCC) funded school travel.

Students who are placedCloseThe child has been placed at a school by a Local Authority Officer; this includes a placement at the nearest suitable school with places available if none of you preferences can be met or to a special school or specialist unit on the grounds of special educational needs. by the Local Authority at specialist educational provisions do not need to opt-in (apply) for Suffolk County Council Funded School Travel as these are assessed through a different process.

If you are unsure if you need to opt-in (apply) please contact customer services at or on 03456 066173.

Suffolk’s new School Travel Policy is being phased in. This means that if your child receives SCC funded school travel in the 2018/2019 school year they will continue to do so whilst they attend the same school unless they turn 8 years of age and live between 2 and 3 miles from their current primary school, or move house, at which time eligibility would need to be reassessed.

In order for your child to continue to receive SCC funded school travel you must opt-in each year.
