Tap On Tap Off now live on First Bus services

Tap On Tap Off now available with First Bus services across Suffolk

Suffolk County Council is pleased to highlight the introduction of the Tap On Tap Off contactless payment system on First Bus services operating across Suffolk. First Bus is one of our key transport operators, and this new system provides customers with a simpler, faster and more flexible way to pay for their journeys.

Tap On Tap Off allows passengers to use a contactless debit card, credit card, or smart device to pay for travel. Customers simply tap on when they board the bus and tap off when they leave, with no need to select a ticket in advance or handle cash.

The system automatically calculates the best value fare for each journey. Daily and weekly fare caps are applied, ensuring passengers never pay more than the equivalent day or week ticket for their travel. This provides reassurance that customers are always charged the lowest available fare for their usage.

Tap On Tap Off also supports popular mobile payment options such as Apple Pay and Google Pay, making bus travel across Suffolk more convenient and accessible for residents and visitors.

Suffolk County Council welcomes initiatives such as this which make public transport easier to use and help improve the customer experience across the county.
